Project Goals:

Enhance the rights of the public towards maintenance payees through resource manuals, legal seminars and consultation services under the project.

Raise public awareness of the handling of arrears of maintenance and related services.

Advocate for the responsibility and importance of maintenance payers in fulfilling their maintenance payments.
Objective:
The aim is to make the public aware of relevant legal rights and responsibilities, while encouraging the resolution of disputes through mediation in order to prevent conflicts.

Application will only be accepted one month before the date of programme, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Anyone who received this service in our Society within one year will only be put on the waiting list.

Each participant will be contacted by phone for assessment and confirmation of time about one week prior to the programme. Please contact the responsible Centre as soon as possible in case of failure of receiving our call 7 days prior to the date of Legal Consultation programme or in case of withdrawal.

Participants who have been confirmed with the interviewing time should arrive at the designated centre on time. Service might not be provided to the late participants on the same evening and re-application for the service will be required.

Please bring along relevant documents (No more than 5 pages) to the consultation if necessary.

Participants can only inquire his/her personal matters, not on behalf of the others, nor can they register on behalf of others.

The service will cover the issues related to the family laws and ordinances of Hong Kong only.

All case information will be kept strictly confidential. If the applicant refuses to disclose the information on the registration form and any questions that need to be answered by a lawyer, he or she will not be interviewed by a lawyer.

The Legal Consultation Service is supported by Duty Lawyer Service.

I should sign an indemnity undertaking with Identity Card No. (the first 3 alphanumeric digits including the first character(s)) provided before interview. Otherwise, service will not be rendered.

I understand the lawyer providing the Service is under the Duty Lawyer Service. I agree the HKFWS to submit my case information and the gist of advice given by the lawyer to the Duty Lawyer Service.
Remarks

The personal data collected will be used for this programme only. Enquiry concerning data collection, usage and access, can be addressed in writing to the Personal Data Coordinator of HKFWS.

Programme will be postponed if typhoon No.8 or above, red or black rainstorms or Extreme Conditions hoisted within 2 hours before the start of programme.

Participants shall not tape, video-tape or record any part of the Service.

HKFWS cannot suggest or recommend any lawyer or guarantee his/her expertise or experience, so the lawyer providing the Service should not be treated as being recommended by HKFWS.

This service is only available to Hong Kong residents.
